The town of Ružomberok is situated on the confluence of the rivers Váh and Revúca in the western part of Liptov basin on the landmark of Slovak mountain ranges – the Great Fatra, the Choč Mountains and the Low Tatras.

The gallery building was built with the purpose of the preservation and presentation of the art work donated by artist Ľudovít Fulla to the Czechoslovak state. Visitors can also visit the artist's studio and residential spaces. Exhibitions of art works and public cultural or educational events are organized here yearly.
