Springs in Korytnica Spa

The rich spa history of the small village of Korytnica dates back to the 16th century. You can find a lot of healing mineral springs in the area. Nowadays, there is only one of the seven springs accessible to the public. Its name is Jozef and you can reach it by following an asphalt road, a blue hiking trail or a green bike path. The water is used to treat stomach and duodenum diseases, intestinal diseases, the diseases of liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts. It has beneficial effects in treating inflammatory diseases of the small and large intestine and recovering from the resection of these organs. It is also efficient in treating the metabolism disorder of diabetes. There is the Korytnica mineral water fountain in the vicinity of the former spa. A narrow-gauge railway, the remains of which can still be seen today, used to run to the spa until 1974. Among the most famous spa guests were Franz Joseph I of Austria and Ľudovít Štúr. The former Spa has been in disrepair for decades and its beauty is fading away. There is the strange atmosphere of the former glory of once the most famous spa in Liptov.
