It was built as a parish church for the inhabitants of the nearby villages of Vrbica, Okoličné, Ploštín, Palúdzka and Bobrovec. Finally, he himself laid the foundations of the new Liptov settlement - St. Nicholas.

As confirmed by the archaeological survey of Professor Vojtech Kriček-Budínsky, Church of Sts. Nicholas grew up on the site of an older Romanesque church and burial site. He later underwent various structural modifications. In the middle of the 15th century it was widespread and vaulted, the tower was built and adapted in a late Gothic style. At the same time, the church, together with the nearby manor of the Pongrác family, was fortified. In the second half of the 16th century and almost the 17th century, the church belonged to Protestants.
