Postavená bola v roku 1871, keď cez Liptov prešiel po novej trati prvý vlak. Neskôr, v roku 1912, bola zväčšená a prestavaná, upravené tiež boli nástupiská a odbavovacia hala. Budova prešla niektorými úpravami, ktoré žiaľ nerešpektovali jej historický charakter a hodnotu národnej kultúrnej pamiatky.
