Eco farm Važec was founded in 1960 and is located in northern Slovakia in a beautiful area in between two national parks – High Tatras (TANAP) and Low Tatras (NAPANT). Parts of both national parks are even found within the area of the eco farm. This is also one of the reasons we are very well familiar with ecological or green farming and from 2005 we are a certified eco farm.

Considering the fact, that the average altitude of our farm land is 1 000 m.a.s.l., we focus mainly on cattle and sheep farming. We care for more than 1 000 cattle and 1 000 sheep on more than 2 000 acres in the spirit of ecological farming and BIO quality is our main philosophy in our own production of cheese, bryndza (traditional Slovak sheep cheese) and other dairy products from cow’s and sheep’s milk as well.

Our shop right at the farm is a popular stop both for the visitors to near-by Važec cave and for the regular travellers via the northern highway D1. Only 3 minutes from the highway to our shop, where you can get fresh and fantastically delicious BIO cheese, cheese strings, parenice (Slovak cheese from cow’s milk), bryndza (Slovak sheep cheese) or traditional whey and broth. The Važecká Cave is one of the most known caves in the northern Slovakia. Though by length it belongs among the short show caves, it is known by occurrence of rich dripstone decoration, remarkable findings of cave bear bones, as well as by rare cave fauna.

Pumped hydroelectric energy storage Čierny Váh consists of two tanks.

An exceptionally attractive trip is the ascent to the Kriváň Mt. (2,494 m) a stout peak in the western part of the High Tatras. This mountain is a multiple winner of enquiries about the most beautiful mountain in Slovakia. It is easily recognisable for its conspicuously curved summit, which is the reason why it is called Kriváň (in English Curved Mount).

Liptovský Hrádok has an interesting place called Skalka (The Little Rock). You can get to its top by an undemanding path and from this point you will have a wonderful view of the whole town of Liptovský Hrádok, the Belá River as well as the town surroundings.

The history and the present time of the town Liptovský Hrádok is closely related to wood, forestry, beekeeping, iron ore and nature. You have a chance to spend wonderful moments while walking in the lime trees alley or at the town Arboretum and bring back the memories of people you have met and the places you have visited.

Poprad-Tatry international airport located at 718 metres above sea level is the highest situated airport for short and medium range airliners within Central Europe.

The great underpass under the railway line, connecting the Lower Hrádok with the upper, is an important part of the city.
